Ambassador's farewell

Ambassador met with President Higgins to pay farewell after five years in Ireland.

Today, the ambassador had a friendly meeting and a very interesting conversation with President Michael D. Higgins at the end of his assignment in Ireland. The ambassador is touched by the hospitality and friendship, which the people of Ireland has extended to him and the embassy. The President wanted to thank the ambassador for his efforts in furthering the strong relationship between Norway and Ireland, and wished him good luck for the future.

Their meeting took place on a day that is marked by sorrow and remembrance in Norway. Today marks the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attack that took place on Utøya and in Oslo the 22 of July 2011. The ambassador and the President had a long and interesting discussion about current topics in international politics. Their discussion touched upon the issue of terrorism, which they both agree remains a current threat to western democratic values.
