Launch of Gaelic Grace Notes

Last updated: 23.01.2015 // The Norwegian educator, musicologist and folk-song editor Ole Mørk Sandvik is the focus of Professor Séamas Ó Cáthain’s latest book, Gaelic Grace Notes.

Ole Mørk Sandvik wrote the first thesis on Norwegian Folk Music, when he took his Doctorate in 1912. Later on, he also wrote books on church music and choral music, as well as continuing his work with folk music in Norway. In 1948, he founded the Norwegian Folk Music Research Association.

Gaelic Grace Notes is  about Ole Mørk Sandvik's early 20th-century field research in Ireland and Scotland. The book had its Irish launch in the Royal Irish Academy, Dawson Street, on 22 January 2015. It was was launched by Minister Joe McHugh. Ambassador Roald Næss was attending the event, as the Embassy was hosting the reception that followed the launch.
